ABOUT · MARCO PENNING

Hi, I’m Marco. For most of my career I was the buyer you want to reach.

For more than 20 years I bought, sold and developed products in the German consumer electronics market, most of that time as Head of Purchasing. I decided which products came into the range. Today I use that experience to help brands sell in Germany and Europe.

WHAT I DID

What I did as a buyer.

I led a purchasing team of up to ten people and was responsible for a large purchasing volume, from the biggest names in tech to small accessory brands nobody knew yet. I worked with suppliers from Europe, the US and Asia, negotiated ranges and prices, and planned stock so products sold before they got old.

I was also responsible for product management. I built and developed brands in the range. I also looked after the end of the cycle: returns, used devices and selling them again.

So I know what a buyer checks before saying yes: does it fit the range, do the numbers still work after promotions, who helps it sell, and can I rely on this supplier. Most brands never hear these questions. They simply get no answer.

BRANDS I HAVE WORKED WITH

Big names and small specialists.

WHAT I DO NOW

LUMVEO: market development for brands that want to sell in Europe.

  1. Market check. Price, margin, competition and channel fit, before you spend serious money.
  2. Buyers and partners. The right retailers, online shops, resellers and distributors for your product.
  3. Sales development. Taking the product to the market and turning conversations into orders.
  4. Your person in Germany. Local representation, without building your own organisation.

I work with a small number of brands at a time, and I do the work myself. Sometimes the honest answer is to change direction, to wait, or to stop. If that is the case, I will tell you.
